CDC has implemented eye protection for employees.
Is it time to add eye coverings to your face mask wardrobe? Dr. Fauci said it would maximize your chances of avoiding a coronavirus infection.
“If you have goggles or an eye shield, you should use it,” he said. “It’s not universally recommended, but if you really want to be complete, you should probably use it if you can.”
Eye protection is already recommended for healthcare workers by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. While the coronavirus can invade through any mucous membrane, including the eyes, most are infected by respiratory droplets when someone talks, coughs, or sneezes and droplets enter through the nose or mouth.
“Theoretically, you should protect all mucosal surfaces,” Dr. Fauci added.
Dr. Birx said, “The thing about face shields—we think that could protect the individuals and that it would decrease the ability for them to touch their eyes and spread the virus as well as those droplets coming towards them.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For those who are most vulnerable to be protected from the virus.
- For the advances in treatment and prevention to successfully end the pandemic.
